PanelShift was built from the ground up to protect your privacy. Our core philosophy is simple: your comic archives, your translations, and your data belong to you.
PanelShift is a local-first application. Core visual processing - including image detection, segmentation, and cleaning - is performed entirely offline on your Mac using bundled open-source models.
When you use built-in integrations to external translation engines (such as Google Translate or Yandex), or when you provide your own API keys for advanced translation and OCR models (such as Pixtral, OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepL, or Microsoft), your API keys are stored securely and locally on your device. PanelShift never transmits your API keys, documents, or translated texts to our own servers.
When you use a third-party AI provider via an API key or a built-in connection, PanelShift securely routes the necessary text or image data directly from your Mac to that specific provider to execute the translation or OCR. This data routing is subject to the individual privacy policies of the providers you choose to use. PanelShift acts solely as the conduit for these requests.
We do not track you. PanelShift does not collect, monitor, or transmit any stealth analytics, usage telemetry, or background user behaviour. The only automated diagnostic data generated is through Apple's native, opt-in crash reporting service, which is governed by your macOS privacy settings.
The only data we collect is information you explicitly and voluntarily send to us for support or improvement purposes.
We will never sell, rent, or share the information you voluntarily submit via email with any third parties.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how PanelShift protects your data, please contact us at privacy_inquiries@panelshift.ai.
